The main components of Supragarden are:

Supragarden has automated watering system and it is easy to maintain. 

Plants get nutrients from water and no soil is needed in this garden. 

Same NFT grow technique is used globally in commercial green houses for farming herbs, salads, strawberries etc.

PlantSteps are made with 3 mm thick, heavy duty PE plastic and they can be attached to each other, so making water tight connections and multi forming grow channel.

Water runs down from top PlantSteps and waters plant roots growing inside the PlantSteps body at 80mm Net pots.

PlantSteps are 60 cm wide and 43 cm tall. Pipe ends are 75 mm with male and female connections.

The height of the Plantstep can be reduced and increase.

To reduce height saw lower pipe. To increase height connect with general plastic pipe extension.

To create your green wall and living wall You just need to assemble SUPRAGARDEN®, add plant seeds or plant cuttings to net pots, maintain garden time-to-time and collect harvest.

PLANTING YOUR GARDEN

You can start growing plants from seeds, cuttings or you can continue to grow pre-planted grocery store herbs and lettuce at Supragarden. 

We recommend to plant seeds and cuttings to rockwool,and cover them with  clay pebbles or coco fiber and put them first to Nursery level for rooting. When roots are showing you can lift them to upper level PlantSteps®.  

You can also grow normal household green plants with same system, growing from cuttings is easy and you can fast grow even a big and flourishing green wall. 

WATER TANK

With big water tank (> 50 liters) Supragarden is easy to maintain. 

Just add water and nutrients about one to 4 times in a month, depending what you grow and how much light plants are getting.

Automated timer operates water pump inside the water tank and lifts nutrient rich water to highest level of garden.

Water flows down inside PlantSteps feeding the plant roots and returns to water tank.

Trim overgrown plants and plant new cuttings taken from them. Collect harvest.

Plant roots get lot of oxygen and typically grow 3 times faster than with soil

NURSERY LEVEL 

Nursery level with water tank is base for PlantSteps but you can also grow small and big plants there. 

It can be used with several hydroponics techniques, even combined at the same time. 

These watering techniques listed below have different benefits and each gardener should select the best method according to plants, size and their growing phase.

NFT

Nutrient film technique is perfect for salads and herbs, but great also for most household plants that like water. A stream of water flows inside PlantSteps body and/or at Nursery level and waters plant roots. With NFT you can use even constant water flow and optimize growing speed of lettuce etc.

EBB & FLOW

Also called Flood and Drain. There water level is raised some 10-45 millimeters, time-to-time, according to timer setup. Typically 5-12 times in a day and none during night. 

Ebb&flow is good for young plants who do not have yet roots reaching outside net pot. 

DWC

Deep water culture means that plant roots are living in the water tank. Plants live in net pots at the PlantSteps holes (4) on nursery level. This is efficient way to grow big fruit plants like chilies and tomatoes.

With DWC you have to make sure water gets enough oxygen or plant roots will drown. This can be done by pumping the water often, almost constantly, or by adding a air-pump and air-stone to system. 

COMBINATION OF MANY

SUPRAGARDEN® packages come with erection support system.

When you have more than four PlantSteps going directly up on SUPRAGARDEN or if you are growing a living green wall with big plants, garden should be supported also with wall, frame or wire attachment from PlantSteps attachment points. 

You can use following tested options for erecting your SUPRAGARDEN® and attaching PlantSteps® to window, wall or as self standing partition wall. Please remember, that plants will anyway mostly cover the system in few months or weeks. 

Hanging rope can be a design solution

You can support PlantSteps® elegantly with hanging rope, string or wire from sealing or other attachment point. 

At this picture PlantSteps® are attached to hemp rope simply with cable ties.

Metal wire, invisible support for glass walls

Metal wire and wire locks are easy and safe way also to support SUPRAGARDEN®. 

Telescopic pillars, easy way to make for green wall in middle of room as space divider 

For big and heavy green wall or garden you can use aluminium, telescopic pillars and pillar fasteners from local IKEA. 

You can raise these telescopic pillars (⌀ 50mm) between floor and sealing with distance 2,1 - 3,4 meter ( 6,9- 11,1 ft). 

Attach PlantSteps® to one or two posts by using high quality IKEA fasteners. Water tank comes between posts. This is perfect solution for balconies and windows where this "transparent" but sturdy body structure can hold up really big,  < 75 kg food garden.

You can also use standard pipe fasteners meant for 75 mm pipes and tubes. With these you can make really heavy and long lasting mounting  for you green wall and vertical garden.

PlantSteps have 75 mm pipe diameter on vertical pipe parts. This means that you can connect PlantSteps to normal 75 mm plastic pipes and and connectors and design then wild and free green wall and garden designs.

Here are some potential user cases, drafted in start of project. 

In this Aquaponics concept plants get nutrients from fish aquarium. Such small tree can be done   by combining PlantSteps with some general tube parts from hardware store.

Unique Green Wall design possibilities; A Plant tree, done with PlantSteps and and general plastic tube parts from every hardware store. This is great design idea for big glass wall getting so a  "living plant curtain".
